Glossary
Terms that show up across the Pipoke docs.
Pipoke runs on Octra Devnet today. Any fee, price, or limit referred to here is a contract setting chosen for testing.
Action fee. A small POKE fee charged when you post, reply, repost, like, react, bookmark, poke, change a profile field, follow, or take most other social actions. Split 50% burn / 40% engagement / 10% treasury.
AML. AppliedML, the smart-contract language used by Octra. AML is the language Pipoke contracts are written in.
Anon commitment. A Poseidon BN254 hash of your local anon secret. Registered on PipokeAnonReputationRoots so a Groth16 proof can later show you are a member of the set.
AWAITING_DELIVERY. Auction state when the auction has settled but the item has not been delivered. The winner can call claim_refund after a delivery window.
Backroom. An anonymous voice room. Opener identity hidden behind a Groth16 proof + nullifier.
BN254. The elliptic curve Octra uses for groth16_verify_bn254. Pipoke's anon system runs on it.
Bonding curve. The pricing model used by BondingCurveToken before graduation. A virtual constant-product curve, (x + virt) * y = k.
Box keypair. A NaCl X25519 keypair used for sealed-key delivery in DMs, group chats, and follower-only posts.
Burn. POKE removed from circulating supply by POKEToken. Driven by the 50% burn share of every action fee.
Circle. An Octra-hosted encrypted object store owned by a wallet. Accessed by oct://circleId/path URI.
Close friends. A curated subset of your followers. Eligible for close-friends-only stories.
Commit-reveal. The two-step protocol used by Pipoke auctions, duels, poker, and crash. A hash of the input is published first; the input is revealed later; the contract verifies.
Drop. A single-host live broadcast on Pipoke with audio, video, and screen share. Recorded as an on-chain VOD when ended.
Drop manifest. The sealed JSON the drop's VOD points at. Carries title, description, category, tags, thumbnail URI, duration.
Engagement reward. Your share of the 40% engagement pot for a given period. Claimed with a Merkle proof.
Epoch. Octra's time unit. About half a second per epoch.
Faucet. A devnet vending contract that hands out free POKE or OCT to a wallet, with a per-wallet cooldown.
Follower-only. A privacy tier on posts. The attachment is encrypted with a symmetric key sealed per follower.
Fee collector. PipokeFeeCollector. The contract that pulls and splits action fees.
Free tier. Pipoke without Premium. Smaller post and bio caps, no glow next to the handle.
Glow. The colored ring rendered next to a Premium or Premium+ handle. Orange for Premium, gold for Premium+.
Groth16. The zk-SNARK proof system Pipoke uses for anonymous posting, anonymous backrooms, and anonymous auctions. Verified on Octra by groth16_verify_bn254.
Hand-raise. The mechanic for asking to speak in a community room. The host promotes raised hands to speaker.
Inbox shard. One of 16 shards that hold encrypted DM ciphertext. The pair hash routes both wallets to the same shard.
LiveKit. The WebRTC SFU used by Pipoke for drops and community rooms.
Lock mint. The one-way switch on POKEToken that ends new minting forever once flipped.
Merkle root. A root hash that commits to a tree of entries. Pipoke uses Merkle roots for anon-set membership and for engagement reward distribution.
Mod bond. A POKE bond posted by a moderator. Slashed 25% if an action they took is overturned on appeal.
Mutuals. Followers who also follow you back. Eligible for mutuals-only posts.
NaCl. The encryption library Pipoke uses for sealed-key delivery and group chats.
Nullifier. A hash derived from your anon secret + an action intent + the epoch. Used once to prevent double-acting per epoch.
OCS-01. Octra's fungible token standard. POKE implements it.
oct:// URI. An identifier for a blob inside an Octra Circle. The Pipoke app and a gateway translate it into HTTPS for browsers.
OCT. Octra's native gas token. Distinct from POKE.
Octrascan. The block explorer for Octra. Use https://devnet.octrascan.io for devnet and https://lite.octrascan.io for mainnet.
Pipoke action. Any signed transaction that touches a Pipoke contract on behalf of a user.
POKE. Pipoke's action-fee token. OCS-01, 1,000,000,000 (1B) cap, with a one-way mint lock.
Poke. A direct POKE tip from one wallet to a post's author.
Poseidon. A BN254-friendly hash function. Used to commit Pipoke anon identities.
Premium / Premium+. Pipoke's two paid tiers. Four SKUs total (monthly + annual for each), no lifetime tier.
Promote. Pay POKE to keep a post pinned as promoted for a span of epochs.
Idle close. The automatic close of a room (community room, backroom, drop) after it has been idle past a configured window.
Repost. A re-share of a post. Quote-repost adds your own commentary.
Session key. A scoped, time-limited key that signs your Pipoke actions silently. Registered on SessionRegistry.
Shard. A copy of a contract deployed N times to spread write traffic. Pipoke shards the feed (32), inbox (16), groups (16), auctions (16 + 8 anon), anon feed (8), and duels (8).
Story. A short-lived post with an in-app TTL. Bytes stay on chain but the indexer stops surfacing them after the TTL.
Tombstone. The marker written by delete_post to flag a post as deleted. The Pipoke indexer stops surfacing the post.
sealed-bid second-price auction. A sealed-bid auction where the winner pays the second-highest bid. Pipoke auctions use this model.
VOD. Video on demand. The sealed recording of a drop, manifest in your Circle, URI on chain.
Wrap. A sealed copy of a symmetric key, encrypted to a recipient's box pubkey. Used in follower-only posts, DMs, and group chats.
Zero-knowledge proof. A proof that a statement is true without revealing the witness. Pipoke uses Groth16 BN254 proofs for the anon surface.
